It is with great sorrow that Helen May Lee passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 after a heroic battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born June 7, 1969, in Washington, DC.  She was a graduate of University of Maryland and worked at DLA Piper, LLP.  Helen truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She was an avid foodie, loved movies and music, travelling, and spending time with her nieces, nephews, and friends; and she loved her sister’s cats.

Helen is preceded in death by grandparents, Fook Guey Lee and Tan Non Lee.  She is survived by: her parents, Gock Way and Wan Ng Lee; her brothers, Benny Lee and David Lee; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Frank Dorsey; brother and sister-in-law Harry and Ada Lee; nieces Autumn Dorsey, Caitlyn Lee and Jessica Lee; nephews Nathan Dorsey and Brandon Lee; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Those wishing to honor her life may make a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Dr. JOSEPH PAUL O’MALLEY, SR., M.D.  (Age 87)

On Tuesday December 12, 2017 of Bethesda, MD. Beloved husband of Elaine M. O’Malley for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his children, James and David O’Malley and is survived by his children, Joseph P., Jr., Stephen, Julie (wife of Randall Smith) and Philip O’Malley and his granddaughter, Trisha Calomino (wife of Michael Calomino). Joseph graduated Holy Cross College in 1951 and Harvard Medical School in 1956. He worked for the National Institutes of Health as a Commissioned Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service from July 1,1957 to December 31,1978. Following that, he worked for the American Red Cross until 1992. He then worked for the American Tissue Services of the American Red Cross until his retirement on October 31, 1995. Relatives and friends may call at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Church on Friday, December 29, 2017 followed by interment at Mt. WRIGHT, Robert William

On Saturday, December 9, 2017. Husband of Fern S. Wright (1954 -2002) and Dorothy Radebaugh Wright (2004 – 2008) and father of Karen Wright of Glasgow, Scotland. He was born in Atchison, Kansas on October 2, 1923 and graduated from Topeka High School. He completed two undergraduate degrees over five years in math and physics at Carnegie Tech University (now Carnegie Mellon University.) He then served in the US Navy in preparation for the planned invasion of Japan. After his discharge, he pursued a PhD in nuclear physics at the University of California Berkeley, where he also participated actively in the International House program and was a key member of the team that discovered a theta particle without hyperon in 1956. In later years, he worked at the Argonne National Laboratory outside Chicago and then headed up international nuclear safety research programs for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He is the author of a noted analysis of the 1979 Three Mile Island accident and its implications. Bob was equally passionate about politics and current affairs, history, historic ships and skiing. He spent the last years of his life in the Aspenwood Senior Living Community and was their longest resident. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm, wide-ranging intellectual curiosity and his interest in and generosity to others. Memorial service on Tuesday, December 19 at 11 a.m. at Northwood Presbyterian Church, 1200 University Blvd West, Silver Spring MD. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions to public broadcasting.

Peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Cary, NC. He was a 63 year resident of Silver Spring, MD. He is survived by three sons, Terry (Raleigh, NC), Robert (Davidson, NC) and William (Mt. Airy, MD), three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Shirley (Smith), his brother, Orval and his sister, Ruth McKay. Born on March 2, 1917, in Roca, NE, and educated at the University of Nebraska. He was a WWII veteran, retired US Army Colonel, retired IRS agent and Real Estate agent. Funeral Services will be held on February 21, 2018 at the Ft. Myer Chapel in Arlington, VA, followed by procession and burial at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Cancer Society or local Hospice organization.
